The Business Roundtable, AARP and the Service Employees International Union have joined together to call for a reasoned, non-partisan national dialogue on what to do about the uninsured. It’s called Divided We Fail, and it emphasizes that the signatories’ views are divergent at the level of technical detail, but not at the highest levels. We applaud that spirit of cooperation. It’s exactly what we’re looking for in accomplishing something right now.
America’s Health Insurance Plans has launched a universal access plan to expand access to health insurance coverage to all children within three years and to 95% of adults within a decade.
A diverse group of 16 major national health care organizations have reached a consensus on policy approaches to expand health coverage to as many people as possible as soon as possible. It’s called the Health Care Coverage Coalition for the Uninsured and, while it’s not the group’s focus, it emphasizes that strategies need to be developed to increase price and quality transparency and improve quality through health information technology and health delivery efficiencies.
